Hawai’i Land Acknowledgment from Next is Hawaii

Aloha!

We would like to recognize that her majesty Queen Lili‘uokalani yielded the Hawaiian Kingdom and these territories under duress and protest to the United States to avoid the bloodshed of her people. We further recognize that Hawai‘i remains an illegally occupied state of America.

While we promote tourism in Hawai’i, it does not mean that we encourage anyone to move there. We are grateful that the Indigenous people of Hawai’i allow us to visit and make incredible memories on their land and we vow to encourage others to protect it, including their communities and culture, as well.

On this blog, we try to use the Hawaiian language (‘ōlelo Hawai‘i) in areas where we can, but sometimes we will not use it for larger search terms as we understand that the person researching may not have a Hawaiian keyboard or way of easily voice dictating the search.

Thanks so much and enjoy your trip to Hawai’i. Mahalo!
